Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Company BSC (c) (GARMCO) management team devised a new leadership tool following sessions on the differences between leading and managing people during the career development programme organised by the company.
Introduced to the concept of POSDCORB as a management tool (Planning, Organising, Staffing, Directing, CoOrdinating, Reporting, Budgeting), managers at GARMCO devised their own leadership model, PAVIC, with the key character traits which they believe are needed to be an effective business-leader. Graham Bruce, GARMCO CEO, said the concept of PAVIC would be a superb reminder for the whole team and added, “The team did an amazing job creating this leadership tool, listing all the character-traits they are looking for in themselves and their colleagues; I am proud of them.” PAVIC Leadership Qualities were defined as:
